Check Out Bluewater's Raja Ampat Diving Trips | Scuba Diving Blog

Arguably the best destination in the world for discovering marine biodiversity, Raja Ampat holds the record for the most number of fish species recorded in a dive. At the heart of the coral triangle, Raja Ampat is a stunning destination to explore both above and below the waterlines. Here at Bluewater Travel, we have been running Raja Ampat diving group trips and photo workshops to Indonesia's diversity epicentre for several years, and we know a thing or two about getting the most from a trip to Raja. Here's what we have coming up:

Raja Ampat Photo Workshop on the Damai I

7 - 18 December, 2021

Join Trip Leader and Photo Professional, Craig Dietrich, on this popular Sorong-Sorong route that takes in the very best of Raja Ampat's wonderful reefs. Beginning at the eastern end of the Dampier Straits, the first part of the trip will explore iconic sites like Cape Kri, Blue Magic, and Mioskon enjoying the schooling fish, cruising sharks and rays, and hopefully pygmy seahorses. The trip will then head west to Gam and then Penemu before moving south to the colourful soft coral-covered reefs around the island of Misool. The cruise will finish at the Farondi caves before returning to Sorong.

The Damai I is a luxury liveaboard, specifically designed for cruising the tropical waters of Indonesia in style.

Raja Ampat Group Trip on the Aurora

9 - 19 February, 2022

Covering the Sarong-Sarong route, this trip follows a similar itinerary to the December 2021 itinerary, taking in the very best of Raja's spectacular reefs. The jewel-like islands of Raja Ampat are caressed by a convergence of swift nutrient-rich currents. Here the pulse of marine life thrives from the sea floor to the surface where the kaleidoscope of corals can start in less than a meter of water. There are sites that are so pristine and packed with growth, that a photographer is hard-pressed to find a spot to place a steadying finger. Exotic sea life and macro critters abound, of course, and photo opportunities border on overwhelming. But at the end of the day, the most memorable moments for us are what can rarely be captured in digital format: the incredible experience of drifting along miles of exquisite reef brimming with a rainbow of hues and activity, the likes of which few have ever experienced.

The Aurora is a traditional-style Pinisi that offers all the amenities expected of a modern liveaboard.
